With the Roof of the Earth as his backdrop, Everest's summit (Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in Tibetan) looming just above his head, and Lhotse, the world's fourth-highest peak, to the right, Gary sits above the twin villages of Khunde and Khumjung. Here, at over 12,000 feet in the Khumbu Valley, is the Sir Edmund Hillary School, central to a historic effort to build a solar geodesic growing dome.
