A challenge for today
The idea began with a simple request from the school.
“If we only had a greenhouse, we could better nourish our staff, students, and community.”
More than sixty years after Sir Edmund Hillary helped build the first schoolhouse in Khumjung, the school identified a new challenge: reliable access to fresh produce in a remote community with a short growing season, limited crop diversity, and no road access.
The foundation exists to help answer that challenge with a solar geodesic Growing Dome, locally aligned programming, and the resources needed to turn the structure into a lasting center for nourishment, learning, and community resilience.
Year-Round Growing
